Password Security

Password is the first defence against any unauthorized access and have been the most important part of an individual’s login details however they are very annoying as they are required everywhere from a desktop login to bank login. Many of us have so many passwords that we usually forget them or get confused which is the correct password for a particular login. Passwords should be changed on a regular basis to protect your data from unauthorized access. Some people usually repeat their passwords and dont think about the risks involved for password protection.
Paswords are effective when they are long enough and includes a combination of numbers and alphabets. Passwords are said to be more simple and cheaper than the new generation security systems such as fingerprint sensors, iris scanners, face recognition systems, etc but at the same time they are more easy to be known by an unauthorized person and can be known easily with the help of password detection systems.
Passwords can be guessed, tried many times until the login is given, tried until the system gives another password through email, tried until the system closes the access. There are some of the ways hackers or unauthorized users try to get an unauthenticated access to a system.
To avoid such identity theft there are many security softwares such as fingerprint sensors, iris scanners, face recognition systems, etc that have come up which secure your data. These devices protect your data from unauthorized access with the help of identification process which involves passwords which states who the user is rather than what the user knows.
Fingerprint sensor is a device which scans a fingerprint, iris scanners scans the eye, and face recognition systems scans the entire face of the user for granting an access to the system. These are the modern ways of securing the identity or the data of the users. There devices now come in-built into the machines which helps protect the identity of the user.
Softex has developed a software named OmniPass which works as a security Single Sign-On solution for accessing the computer. OmniPass is a software solution which works in conjunction with a hardware device such as the fingerprint sensor to scan the fingerprint of the user and remember it for further use.
Once OmniPass is installed in the machine the user is asked to swipe a finger which is used as an authentication mechanism for authenticating the user. If the fingerprint scan does not match with the one that is stored in the machine the user is not given access to the machine i.e. until a match is found the user is denied access to the machine.
This is the most secure way of protecting the users identity and the data which is stored on the machine. OmniPass will enter the password for an application or a web site automatically when that application or web site is opened by the user after registering it with the OmniPass. The user can thus rely on OmniPass for securing the data and identity of the user.
Devices such as these helps the user to eliminate the passwords completely. Users cannot forget their passwords as their are no passwords. Users may not remember their password but they will not forget to swipe their finger to get an access to the machine.
OmniPass helps the user to set authentication rules which increases the security of the application. These rules can be set as per the requirement so that the user needs to compulsorily authenticate with the application with not one but two or more authentication devices such as login-id and password with a combination of fingerprint scanner, etc. This increases the security of the application and makes the data more secured.
